This Sustainable Travel Management Plan has been produced for employees and visitors travelling to The Spirella Buildings. It provides information on the different methods of travel available to Spirella 1 and 2. Its aim is to encourage employees and visitors to choose active modes of travel, adopt sustainable travel behaviours and in turn reduce traffic congestion and pollution.

General information

Willmott Dixon occupies two separate buildings in Letchworth – the distinctive Spirella building which fronts onto Bridge Road and Spirella 2, which sits behind the first building, across the car park. These buildings can be found in the centre of Letchworth Garden City, North Hertfordshire and they benefit from excellent road and public transport links to central London and Cambridge.

The offices also benefit from video and teleconferencing facilities which help reduce unnecessary journeys to our site.

Why we have a Sustainable Travel Plan

As a carbon neutral business, we are committed to reducing our carbon emissions throughout the business by reducing car journeys and promoting more sustainable forms of travel.

This Sustainable Travel plan forms an important component of this commitment as it outlines a framework for an on-going programme that encourages the uptake of public transport, cycling and walking.

This travel plan outlines all the travel options available to those travelling to and from Spirella 1 and 2, so that employees and visitors have the information they need to make sustainable travel choices.

The benefits of adopting a sustainable travel plan:

  • Our business spends millions of pounds a year on commuting and business mileage. More sustainable travel choices will help the company manage this cost.
  • Car sharing, cycling or walking can significantly reduce the cost of commuting. Cyclists and car sharers are rewarded through the company’s car sharing and bicycle mileage reimbursment policies. Those looking to take up cycling can save even more money on the cost of a bicycle through the our bicycle purchase scheme.
  • Fewer car journeys will help the company manage its carbon footprint and so limit its impact on global warming.
  • Improved employee health and wellbeing as a result of walking or cycling to work can help boost attendance and productivity.
  • Reducing the amount of cars accessing the site can help reduce air and noise pollution and also minimises traffic congestion helping Willmott Dixon to be a good neighbour.
