Working with the Careers and Enterprise Company, our Northern offices has become a Cornerstone employer linking directly with Royton & Crompton School, a local secondary school which has recently gone into special measures. The school’s most recent Ofsted report of May 2017 deems the school as 'Inadequate' in all areas!
To help students at the school to raise their aspirations and become more engaged in their studies, we are working with the school to develop its careers guidance and are also delivering interactive activities linked to the curriculum.
Activities are designed to be both interactive and fun, demonstrating how maths links into job roles in our industry and create awareness of the variety of job roles that are not Craft related. In addition, we educate the educators/teachers and show that construction is:
- Not just for boys
- Not just for low achievers
- Commands decent salaries
- Has excellent progression routes
In addition we hope that the students will engage better with their subjects, understand their relevance and use in ‘the real world’ and more importantly demonstrate that maths can be fun!
