We have been part of the continued growth and success of Devon and Cornwall, helping to propel the South West as a hub for learning, innovation, and culture. Over the past decade we have delivered over 13 projects in the region; including the new cultural icon The Box in Plymouth and a striking new building to house the Met Office’s supercomputer in Exeter. We have also been at the heart of local communities, creating inspiring spaces for school children and through the Digital and Data centre at Exeter College, we are helping to train the next generation of digital natives.

A gateway for growth

As a region with bold ambitions, we believe that Devon and Cornwall is a gateway for growth, and we have been helping unlock that opportunity for our customers through our collaborative partnerships and efficient procurement options, while ensuring that our projects have the greatest economic and social impact on local communities.

Working with Plymouth City Council, we delivered The Box, creating a new cultural destination in the city. Through working with our local supply chain, over £18m was spent within the PL postcode helping ensure that the investment was directly benefiting the people of the city. Our history in Plymouth extends beyond this great project, with our local team delivering 2022 schools places through four schools between 2013 and 2016.

In addition to our local supply chain, we work closely with Building Plymouth and Building Greater Exeter to provide opportunities to those furthest away from the job market – people like ‘Rocky’ who didn’t have the easiest start in life but found opportunity and success at our Exeter Police Station Project.

We have the skills to deliver

Whether it is creating an ‘Archive in the Sky’ at The Box, delivering a sophisticated space that enables a computer to make 16,000 trillion calculations per second at The Met Office, or creating schools at the heart of a local community, we have a team of specialists that can deliver.

Our local team understand the region and the local communities the buildings are designed to serve, and are committed to delivering brilliant buildings.

Effective contracting mechanisms

Through our wide range of framework partners, we embrace contracting mechanisms that enable customers to focus on what is right for them, their communities and stakeholders, rather than lengthy and costly procurement processes.

Our presence across a range of frameworks provides customers with the freedom to choose between a direct award or competition across pre-approved framework partners. Our frameworks are managed nationally and delivered locally, enabling us to procure significant volumes of projects and services commanding highly competitive and fixed rates for our customers.

Our local presence

With offices in both Exeter and Plymouth, we are well positioned to support projects in Devon and Cornwall, combining a local presence with the knowledge and skills of the wider Willmott Dixon group.
