Creating a three-storey school providing vital spaces for children SEMH and ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder)

to deliver success
For many years, SEND school provision has been sorely lacking, with it often siloed by specialist need and thus spread thinly across a wide geographical area. Stories of pupils travelling more than an hour each way to a suitable school have been commonplace, putting huge amounts of pressure on both the children and their parents, in addition to financial strain on the local authority to cover the travel costs.
Local authorities are under increasing pressure to improve their SEND provision, however, the challenge remains where these spaces can be delivered. To overcome this challenge, Willmott Dixon has partnered with one of our leading design partners, Bond Bryan, to provide borough- and county-wide capacity assessments that highlight where the need is greatest, alongside solutions that include expansion, new build or retrofit options.

We are proud to have delivered a wide range of SEND schools across the country, ensuring we are ideally placed to support local authorities in providing these solutions. To find out about some of our project, click on the case studies below.
