Green-fingered staff brighten up sheltered housing complex...

A tired-looking garden at a sheltered housing complex in Wigan has turned a new leaf, thanks to help from our people who volunteered.

They mucked in with staff and residents at Wigan Council’s Brackley House in Goose Green to transform a tiered seating area with a range of colourful flower pots, hanging baskets and two new wooden planters built with recycled materials, which are filled with a variety of herbs.

Residents picked up some handy gardening tips along the way and learnt about the different herbs used in our kitchens.
