Preventing avoidable waste being generated at every stage of a project’s lifecycle, from the manufacture of materials, design, specification, procurement and assembly of buildings through to deconstruction. Hazardous waste removed from buildings (e.g. asbestos) is one example of unavoidable waste, and therefore does is not counted in this definition.
