Continuing to build stronger communities with the Procurement Hub

The recent extension of the Procurement Hub Major Projects Framework 2 (MPF2) was an opportunity to reflect on what this framework has achieved so far.

The recent two-year extension of the Procurement Hub MPF2 has given me an opportunity to reflect on what this framework has achieved so far – and the role it has played in enabling our teams to deliver outstanding outcomes, for our customers and communities.

A framework built on speed, simplicity and compliance

In today’s procurement landscape, compliance has never been more critical. The Procurement Act has reinforced the need for transparency, efficiency, and social value in every project we deliver. Frameworks like MPF2 are vital because they simplify the complexity of procurement while ensuring absolute compliance with legislation.

MPF2 is a Gold Standard accredited framework, meaning it exceeds the industry’s highest benchmarks. Customers can feel secure in the knowledge the process is robust, while dramatically reducing the time typically associated with procurement. MPF2 is widely recognised as one of the fastest procurement routes in the UK, cutting time by months without compromising governance.

Since MPF2’s inception in 2022, it has generated a value of more than £1.8 billion worth of projects across England, Wales, and beyond

Real projects, real impact

Behind every number there is a powerful story of impact, and the first iteration of the Major Projects Framework paved the way for delivering outstanding outcomes.

Projects like the Soho Theatre Walthamstow restoration, which brought cultural vibrancy and economic opportunity back to a historic building; Hollycroft Primary School in Leicestershire, the county’s first operational net zero school and a model for the future; the Therapia Lane Depot in Croydon, which modernised vital infrastructure; and the Forestry England tree nursery upgrade in Cheshire, which is enhancing sustainability and biodiversity.

Each of these projects was procured seamlessly through the first iteration, ensuring our customers could focus on outcomes rather than process – and this legacy continues today through MPF2.

More than construction – creating social value

What truly sets MPF2 apart is its commitment to social impact. This is a framework where at least 30% of every pound spent is reinvested into the communities we work in. From skills and employment programmes to volunteering and local enterprise support, MPF2 ensures that every project leaves a legacy that extends far beyond construction.

And it doesn’t stop there: any surplus generated by Procurement Hub goes straight back into community initiatives, charitable projects, and the public sector. When customers choose this framework, they also choose a procurement model with purpose at its core.

Looking ahead – a two-year extension of opportunity

The two-year extension of MPF2, taking the framework to 2028, is a clear signal of confidence in its value and performance. It gives us - and our customers - the opportunity to deliver even more ambitious projects and social impact.

As we look to the future, I am feeling optimistic. MPF2 is a force for positive change and with its extended term and continued focus on speed, compliance, and community value, we are positioned to shape places and enrich lives for years to come.
