Mayfield Road, Wigan

Our housing specialists are building 30 new affordable bungalows and houses in Mayfield Road in Wigan for Wigan Council.

The £3.9 million project will see the properties built for affordable rent creating new homes for the local community.

Leaving a legacy

As with all Willmott Dixon projects, we strive to leave a positive legacy in the local community and our team have been taking running activities such as providing mentoring groups with insights into careers in construction, working with local training providers for pre-employability skills and taking part in charity fundraising events like the Wigan 10k in aid of Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

Anthony Dillon, managing director of construction in the North said,

“It’s fantastic to be continuing our relationship with Wigan Council and creating much needed affordable homes for the community in Wigan.”

Councillor David Molyneux, cabinet member for regeneration, said:

“This is a significant investment by the council in the type of new and affordable homes. We are committed to delivering new homes to suit demand and playing a key role in making sure housing needs are addressed. “The types of homes, including bungalows, will support the delivery of our innovative approach to social care by enabling residents to live longer and healthier lives in their own homes and reduce the demand and costs on care services and on hospitals.”

The project follows on from our work at Little Lane in Wigan creating 39 extra care Homes for the community, and runs alongside our project creating another new development of 40 bungalows at Anthorn road.
