Bid Manager

We are looking to recruit a Bid Manager (Preconstruction) for our Construction South region due to an increased pipeline of work. With offices in Weybridge, Dartford and Farnborough, we deliver projects across multiple sectors in the South East, including: London, Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Dorset.

At Willmott Dixon you are supported to work in a hybrid way from our offices, home and attending customer meetings to ensure that you achieve a work/life balance and deliver a successful bid service.

Reporting to our Preconstruction Manager, you will demonstrate true leadership and project management skills to deliver successful bids, on time, within budget and to the highest quality. You will have a proven track record of managing projects and will be responsible for leading both single and two-stage tenders for projects ranging in value from £10m to £100m across a range of sectors, including Homes, Education, Leisure, Commercial, Blue Light and Health. As a Bid Manager at Willmott Dixon, you will be responsible for:


  • Leading in identifying the key knowledge experts who are relevant to specific bids and arrange meetings with these stakeholders to set strategy, timescales and input obligations. Once the team are identified you will lead and manage this team of internal and external resource.

  • Coordinating inception workshops with our customers to ensure we truly understand their needs and their 'Why?'.

  • Managing the customers’ expectations through continuous communication and ensuring we build and maintain good working relations.

  • Developing and incorporating project strategies to achieve Willmott Dixon's sustainability objectives.

  • Ensuring regular monitoring and reporting on progress, managing potential risks and opportunities, and instigating pre-emptive and corrective actions as required.

  • Maintaining continuous professional development of yourself and your team to ensure appropriate technical awareness, implementing best practice and driving continuous improvement.

  • Maintaining a ‘one team’ approach throughout to create a seamless transition from preconstruction to operations.

  • A technical understanding of complex construction schemes

  • Experience of delivering outstanding customer and stakeholder service and management



Desirable skills:



  • A construction related degree

  • CIOB membership or equivalent

  • Experience of working on bids in the construction sector
