Regional Head of Business Development

We are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager with a technical background in the construction industry to lead our multi-sector expansion efforts in the South East of England and South London. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the regional construction market, and have a proven track record of generating new business opportunities and fostering long-term customer relationships. This role requires strategic thinking, excellent persuasion skills, and the ability to deliver results in a competitive landscape.


You'll be tasked with pinpointing project opportunities throughout our Southern region, leveraging your established expertise in managing and growing business relationships within the construction and fit out industry. This role involves actively promoting our services with enthusiasm and authority, providing guidance and direction to potential customers. Demonstrable skills in organising and planning sales activities to support our strategic expansion goals, along with the ability to deliver precise progress reports and forecasts, are critical.


It's imperative that you are a driven and proactive person, capable of comprehensively understanding the WDI service portfolio and independently generating sales leads within both our private and public sector customer bases.


 

Key Responsibilties

Market Analysis & Strategy Development: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify new business opportunities within the construction and fit out sector. Develop and implement a strategic business development plan tailored to the unique characteristics and demands of the South East England and South London markets.


Customer Acquisition & Relationship Management: Actively pursue new customer leads and maintain fruitful relationships with existing customers. Utilise a consultative approach to understand customer needs and offer tailored solutions that meet their objectives.


Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with the project management, marketing, and operations teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects from inception to completion. Collaborate closely with the business development team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.


Contract Negotiation & Management: Be capable of discussing contracts with customers,  ensuring favourable and lower risk terms, appropriate to the project type and customer.


Brand Representation & Networking: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking meetings. Build and maintain a strong professional network within the industry to promote our brand and services.


Reporting & Analysis: Provide regular reports on business development activities, market trends, competitor analysis, and customer feedback to the senior management team. Use data-driven insights to refine and adapt strategies as necessary.

Essential and Desirable Criteria


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related technical field.

  • Strong knowledge of the construction market in South East England and South London.

  • High level of verbal communication skills and networking.

  • Presenting to all levels of seniority from individuals to meetings.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business development strategies that have led to significant revenue growth.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to travel as needed within the designated region.
