Our nationwide partnership with The Pallet Loop shows how a circular economy approach to waste can save resources, cost and carbon.
Every year, the UK construction industry uses around 20 million single-use pallets to move building materials. To address this waste, the Pallet Loop manufactures, distributes and collects its own reusable green pallets from sites.
During 2024, the Pallet Loop has collected 15,846 reusable green pallets from over 70 Willmott Dixon construction sites across the UK, diverting them from traditional wood skips.
By working with The Pallet Loop, we’ve reduced wood waste from our sites by 222 tonnes, resulting in a 789kg fall in carbon emissions from our operations.
This sustainable approach is also more efficient, reducing our single use timber requirement by 475m3 and saving £69,333 in waste disposal costs.
Each pallet has a radio tag to track its movements, giving clear data on how this partnership enhances our operational efficiency, helping to cut carbon emissions.
Our partnership with the Pallet LOOP shows how circular economics create a win-win situation reducing environmental impact while delivering greater efficiency.
