Refurbishment and fit-out of a new facility for the college, which partners with the BBC
HIGHLIGHTS
- Creation of new digital teaching facilities for the college, a partner of the BBC
- Strip out existing offices and associated services, and fit-out of new partitions, ceilings, floor finishes and decorations
- Complex services installation for recording studios, technical, science and computer workshops
Willmott Dixon Interiors was appointed to refurbish two existing buildings on Elstree Way – Adecco House and Silver Screens – to provide a new education facility for the Elstree University Technology College.
The college offers full-time technical courses to 600 students aged 14-19. With partners including the BBC and Endemol, the college focuses on technical skills and technologies for the film, television, theatre and digital communication industries.
Having stripped out the existing offices and associated services, we created new partitions and added new suspended ceilings, floor finishes and decorations to form new facilities – the recording studios, technical, science and computer workshops.
In addition to fitting a new catering kitchen, new mechanical and electrical services were added throughout to provide a modern environment. To link the two buildings and create a seamless whole space, we created a stunning double storey height curtain wall structure.
Finally, new landscape and car parking works completed the new facility.
