Career of a lifetime - see what happened when Steph McGovern met our Management Trainees
The programme is open to school and college leavers, skilled trades people and graduates. It offers trainees the opportunity to gain experience in different jobs and disciplines.
If you are passionate and want to succeed in construction, our management trainee programme will give you the opportunity to realise your potential. This successful programme is one of the best in the industry as we have been nurturing, developing and fulfilling future managers’ potential for over 40 years. There are lots of routes into a management trainee programme at Willmott Dixon:
School/college leavers/skilled trades
Are you studying for A levels, a BTEC, T levels, an HNC or already have experience in a trade and don’t want to go to university full time? Then a 4 years’ management trainee programme could be for you as you will be supported to study a relevant higher level apprenticeship qualification whilst gaining relevant work experience.
Graduates
Are you a graduate with a degree in a construction related subject? We can offer you a 2 year management trainee programme.
If you have a non-construction related degree we still want you to apply and we can offer you a 3 year management trainee programme.
Skilled tradespeople
Are you a graduate with a degree in a construction related subject? We can offer you a 2 years’ management trainee programme.
If you have a non-construction related degree we welcome your application and can offer you a 3 years’ management trainee programme.
Whatever your entry point into the management trainee programme, you will follow a structured programme of placements that will expose you to all areas of construction to develop your understanding of the business as a whole and not just your chosen discipline.
The Management Trainee experience:
We have lots of different courses and events that get you feeling part of the Willmott Dixon management trainee team right from the outset!
Trainee awareness programme
Our 1st year management trainees attend a two week programme which teaches the basic trade competencies through practical hands on sessions.
Trainee away days
Every year, all management trainees attend away days, undertaking a range of activities aimed at developing team building skills. It is also an opportunity for trainees to meet socially in a fun and challenging environment!
Management trainee of the year
All management trainees and former trainees who have finished their programme within the last 12 months are invited to an annual 'trainee of the year' event to celebrate the achievements of trainees throughout the year. It is here that the prestigious 'trainee of the year award' is presented.
Each of our management trainees participates in our trainee challenge, a chance to make a difference in the communities we serve. Watch the video about to see how James Vosper, our 2021 Trainee of the Year developed a net zero off grid learning space at Pix Brook Academy.
