Dorset Police Headquarters
A new BREEAM ‘Very Good’ Headquarters for Dorset
Willmott Dixon has delivered a new headquarters for Dorset Police, chalking up another project in a growing portfolio of blue light schemes.
Procured using the SCF construction framework, the project involved the creation of a new headquarters at Dorset Police’s Winfrith site where we delivered a 30,000 sq ft three-storey ‘Grade A’ office building, with the design incorporating a contemporary mixture of facing brickwork and glazed curtain walling.
Sustainable features
This new facility was designed to the BREEAM ‘Very Good’ sustainability standard and the building utilises air source heat pumps and an array of PV panels to harness the sun for additional energy generation.
Richard Poulter, Managing Director for Willmott Dixon’s Construction South region said:
“We are delighted to have completed work on this highly anticipated project for Dorset Police. We have worked closely with Dorset Police and the architects Corstorphine & Wright Ltd to ensure that we delivered a vibrant office within a highly sustainable building that caters to the police forces needs. This project represents the latest in a proud history for Willmott Dixon of delivering cutting edge blue light facilities to meet the needs of modern policing.”
Our Blue Light Work
The completion of this project extends our experience in delivering blue light buildings, with a number of blue light projects completing early 2026. In Oxfordshire, we are currently on site delivering the new Thames Valley Police Forensic Investigation Centre, completing in Spring 2026, this project will enhance Thames Valley Police’s forensic capability and capacity. In Cambridgeshire we are currently delivering a new sustainable Police Hub to support modern policing in Cambridge, which will open its doors in Q1 2026. In the later half of 2026 we will complete work on Hertfordshire Constabulary HQ for the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire, targeting BREEAM Excellent standards.
Our extensive list of blue light work successfully blends sustainability with security and staff-wellbeing, developing a new model for future blue light buildings that allow the police force to develop a more agile and collaborative approach whilst helping them to meet existing and future demand.
