Now or Never sets us an ambition that by 2030 we will deliver environmental net gain. As a key part of that ambition, we have a target to plant 100,000 trees by 2030.

Delivery of appropriate tree planting schemes, following a ‘right tree, right place, right reason’[1] principle, will provide a wide range of environmental, social and economic benefits.

Planting trees and creating woodland will improve the health and wellbeing of local communities. Our target also contributes to the long-term mitigation of and adaptation to the changing climate and supports the recovery of nature.

We aim to plant trees in the communities in which we work, with arrangements in place to ensure the success and longevity of our planting. We will encourage our people to take part in delivering this target, through volunteer days, as well as forming partnerships with trusted local organisations including charities, social enterprises and community groups. We will also help our customers to deliver over and above their project requirements through additional planting of trees.

Tree planting is additional to our existing carbon offsetting arrangement and is supplementary to any tree planting that may occur as an enhancement as part of our projects. You can find out more about our work to deliver biodiversity net gain here.
