Calthorpe Sports Hall
New modern sports facilities for Calthorpe School in Fleet
Our team of education sector experts are building a new £3.4 million sports hall for Calthorpe School which will feature a four-court multi-use area, two dedicated changing rooms, a large storage and administration area along with a three layer felt roof for increased durability.
The new sports hall, procured through the Scape Major Works framework, is planned to be completed in the spring of 2018 to meet the school’s current and future needs. Pupil numbers at Calthorpe Park have recently grown with 300 more places, and a further expansion is being considered to meet predicted population growth. Demolition of the existing redundant leisure centre will provide an ideal site for extension to the school, if and when necessary.
This is our second project for Hart District Council following on from the recent completion of the new Hart Leisure Centre which is adjacent to the school.
The existing school will be operational during construction by using the nearby old leisure centre sports facilities for the schools sporting activities. To minimise disruption within the campus and to install service diversions efficiently and safely, we have re-routed the traffic and pedestrian flow.
The new sports hall will be built by Hart District Council, with £1.8m funding from the County Council and up to the same amount match-funded by the District Council.
Richard Poulter, managing director of Willmott Dixon in the mid southern counties said:
“We are delighted to be part of this project; the new building will be another exciting development and a wonderful facility for the Calthorpe community.”
The school is due to complete in August 2018; the end result will be a modern, value-for-money sports hall for the school.
