Holiday Inn, Commercial Road

This high-profile Holiday Inn on one of London's major arterial routes show-cased our skills and abilities to deliver tall buildings on busy, constrained sites.

Our role here saw the Cobham office team build a 130 bed, eight storey Holiday Inn on the busy Commercial Road in east London. The scope included large restaurant, bar, meeting rooms and conference facilities, providing a popular destination in an area not previously well served by big branded hotels.

It involved meticulous planning and detail to ensure deliveries were made on time and did not disrupt the busy flow of the area, which is a very busy route into London. Quality and attention to detail was essential and is just part of the service we provide to all projects, giving the customer a finished product that enhances their business and brand.

Another key challenge was to manage deliveries at night-time to ensure they were off the road during the busy daylight hours.

Early access

Crucially, while the handover was on time, we afforded early access for hotel to fit out and open just three weeks after completion; part of the customer focused approach.

We finished a week ahead of schedule and also made sure that 97% of waste was diverted away from landfill, just one aspect of our Responsible Business approach we apply to all projects.

Big pedigree for hotels

This is just the latest Holiday Inn we have built, following others in Redditch, Southend and Epsom. Hotel clients use our teams for their reliability and quality, knowing that with us they do not buy construction teams on a learning curve!

Our team of hotel specialists followed this project by creating another large hotel on a main arterial route into London, the Novotel on the A4 into Hounslow.
