The King’s Awards for Enterprise are the pinnacle for outstanding business excellence, a quality benchmark to identify the ‘best of the best’.

It the fifth time since 2014 that the highest accolade in UK business has been bestowed on Willmott Dixon. This time it’s for Sustainable Development, our third in this category, which follows our success last year for Promoting Opportunity, our second award here.

This year Willmott Dixon is the only Tier One contractor to be in the list 252 organisations recognised.

This latest King’s Award for Enterprise continues to recognise our progress towards becoming a zero-carbon company without any offsetting by 2030 – where we reduce our emissions to zero with no need to offset. It also recognises how we’re helping our people, supply chain and customers transition to a Net Zero future.

Notable achievements include:

  • Reducing absolute carbon emissions by 48% since our baseline year of 2018.
  • Reducing carbon emissions (relative to turnover) by 81% since 2010.
  • Reducing mileage from business travel and commute by 37% since 2018.
  • Gaining a growing volume of work to deliver net zero in operation projects.
  • Cutting avoidable waste from sites; by the end of 2023, absolute construction waste had been reduced by 32% and construction waste intensity (relative to turnover) by 24% since 2018.
  • Creating an innovative salary sacrifice car scheme to help our people buy low emissions vehicles.
  • Developing solutions to support customers’ net zero ambitions like the Energy Synergy service and Community Solar products.
  • Planting 14,985 trees in 2023, making it over 30,000 trees planted do far
  • Engaging with supply chain partners to address scope 3 emissions.
