We have a fantastic opportunity for an Architectural Technician to join our in-house design team within Willmott Dixon on a 12 month fixed term contract basis. As our Architectural Technician you should be able to demonstrate a pro-active approach to design development with a focus on the delivery of detailed design standard details as well as working drawing packages.
The role requires robust environmental and technical knowledge and a working knowledge of UK Building Regulations to ensure all outputs comply with the necessary legislation, associated standards and WD policy and procedures.
This will be a hybrid role, the team are located at our Hitchin office and the ideal days to be office based are Monday and Tuesday.
The Project
The role includes:
• Developing & producing details to stage 4/5 level of detail across a wide range of building typologies and superstructure types. A good technical knowledge of construction and UK legislation will be required.
• As a team, we support project teams with the deployment & use of these standard details. You should be comfortable in dealing with site specific constraints, sequencing, sustainability, and cost.
• Liaising with external consultants and internal stakeholders.
• Attending site visits and Willmott Dixon offices throughout the country.
• Supporting the development of our existing Department for Education (DfE) design platform.
Essential and Desirable Criteria
Essential skills:
• Experienced Revit user
• Strong technical knowledge, specification, and material knowledge
• Ability to produce detailed technical drawings
• Understanding of current Building Regulations, Building Safety Act, and Warranty Guidance as a minimum
• Capability to work autonomously
Desirable skills:
• Experience within at least one of the following sectors: Department for Education, Residential, Leisure or Healthcare
