The Role

We are recruiting for a Bid Manager to join our Southern regional team.  As the successful candidate you will focus on leading bids for projects across South London and the South East. Leading first-stage bids, you will be responsible for high-quality submissions that will impress our customers. We are committed to truly understanding our customers' needs and developing sustainable solutions that are articulated in clear submissions.


NB. This is a 12 months fixed term contract - maternity leave cover!


You will have a work winning mindset and a passion for creating high quality bids. You do not need to have worked in construction previously but must be able to demonstrate the skills and capabilities outlined below:


Strong team leadership skills: Leading the team assembled for the bid who will come from other internal departments and outside the business. You will:



  • Identify and assemble the people needed to produce and win the bid.

  • Motivate and inspire them to get the best from the whole team.

  • Develop work winning strategies for bids.

  • Agree individual roles and responsibilities.

  • Check progress and support bid team members.

  • Provide feedback to bid team members about their performance on the bid.

  • Lead the bid strategy.

  • Understand the entire bid submission and influence our approach to align with the 'win plan.'

  • Be accountable for everything that goes into the bid.

  • Define and shape the visual presentation of the submission


We operate a hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days in the office (either Weybridge, Dartford or Farnborough) and 2 days working from home if desired.

Essential and Desirable Criteria

Essential:



  • Strong writing skills – able to craft clear, concise, and compelling bids.

  • Strong attention to detail – all our proposals must be error-free.

  • Project management skills – able to meet the proposal deadline and coordinate the input of multiple team members.


Desired:



  • English literature or journalism degree or equivalent qualification.
