Link-up provides access to Architype's Passivhaus expertise

Plotting a sustainable future; Collida’s Tim Carey, right, with Mark Barry from Architype.

Collida, a Willmott Dixon company, has signed a five-year partnership with Architype, the UK’s leading net zero architect. The link-up will give Collida access to Architype's award-winning Passivhaus design and technical capability to help drive its Living platform, which seeks to develop a new generation of sustainable homes that enable local authorities, registered providers and developers to respond to the climate emergency and meet the UK’s net zero commitments.

Collida Living aims to delivers up to 90% lower running costs for residents compared to the average family home, whilst achieving 20% lower embodied carbon against LETI benchmarks – all delivered through the use of factory-manufactured MMC solutions.

To achieve this, Collida uses market-leading digital configuration software to deliver a suite of mixed-tenure houses and apartments to suit every layout option. It provides internal flexibility with rapid design options so that each development can be tailored to suit local community needs.

Tim Carey, Chief Product Officer for Collida:

“Sustainability is one of Collida’s key values, and we are passionate about delivering net zero carbon homes with integrity. We were drawn to Architype because of their shared values and Passivhaus expertise, which is a rigorous standard for carbon reduction. With the potential cost of retrofitting even recently built homes up to five times higher than doing the right thing now, Collida is committed to solutions that drive exemplar standards in both sustainable design and installation today.”

Mark Barry, Architype director:

"We have successfully worked together with Willmott Dixon on major Passivhaus projects and this move is a natural extension of our collaborative partnership. We are increasingly seeing how badly most new builds are working in the climate emergency - a problem that is only going to get worse as the planet heats up. Through Collida, people will benefit from high quality homes that perform well, with low cost bills, fresh air, natural daylight and no overheating or draughts. Collida is a great opportunity for all who want to see their residents have a better quality of home, and meet ambitious carbon commitments.”
