Cheadle College campus redevelopment celebrates structural completion
Key milestone for major college revamp in Cheadle
Willmott Dixon's repairs and maintenance specialist has marked Gas Safety Week by celebrating one year of 100 per cent compliance for successfully completing 6,500 gas safety checks at 5,500 properties belonging to Phoenix Community Housing.
It is the first time that Phoenix Community Housing have achieved twelve successive months of 100 per cent success rate for gas compliance. Gas Safe Register has launched Gas Safety Week (12-18 September) this year with the aim of raising awareness of gas safety and the importance of taking care of gas appliances in the home.
Willmott Dixon’s Lewisham branch currently works on a £6million contract with Phoenix Community Housing to repair and maintain 5,500 homes in the Bellingham, Whitefoot and Downham areas of Lewisham, London. The company’s gas engineers are responsible for visiting every tenant and carrying out a visual inspection of their central heating system, including boilers, radiators, cold water tanks and cylinders, in addition to a full inspection of all gas appliances and internal gas pipes.
Willmott Dixon and Phoenix Community Housing worked together to build a shared vision of value for money and continuous improvement, implement partnership working across the service and develop total integration as a long term strategy. The two organisations have tackled the problem of not being able to get into a number of properties to check appliances during the day by introducing additional evening and weekend visits and hand delivering appointment notes to tenants. This has clearly paid dividends.
All of Willmott Dixon’s gas engineers are ‘Gas Safe’ accredited and the company has a long and successful track record in managing gas contracts.
Alan Brooks, Willmott Dixon’s Lewisham branch manager, said, “Gas checks are a vitally important part of our work to help keep tenants safe. Intentionally preventing access for our engineers can endanger lives, but we understand that sometimes it’s difficult for someone to be at home during the day to let them in. That’s why we have taken the steps to introduce appointments at a more convenient time for tenants. It is always our company’s goal to deliver 100 per cent compliance on all our gas servicing contracts, and I’m thrilled to see the positive results which can be achieved through a combination of new initiatives and teamwork."
