The first is part of The Works regeneration scheme to transform the former steelworks site in Ebbw Vale. Willmott Dixon has won the £27m contract to construct Ebbw Fawr 11- 16 Learning Community School, which will form part of a wider learning community for children aged from three to 16 years. The three-storey secondary school is due for completion in Autumn 2013, catering for 1,200 pupils and includes a variety of learning spaces, multi-use games area, a grass running track and football pitch.

Willmott Dixon has also been appointed by Cardiff County Council to construct the new St Teilo’s Church in Wales High School in a £20m contract. The 1,440-pupil high school will complete in Autumn 2013.

Meanwhile, under the SEWSCAP (South East Wales Schools Capital Working Group) framework, Willmott Dixon has won a contract to build a new primary school for Rhondda Cynon Taf Council. SEWSCAP is an innovative partnership between 10 local authorities to create a framework of preferred contractors to efficiently procure education projects over four years. The contract for the new 420-pupil Abercynon Primary School in the Cynon Valley is worth £7.1m.
