Willmott Dixon gets nod for flagship Lincolnshire secure children's home
The net-zero in operation facility will be a national resource for secure accommodation
Latest work in London borough with company also completing housing for Hounslow
Willmott Dixon has been chosen by Hounslow Council and the NHS to deliver a state-of-the art £40m health centre in Chiswick.
The Chiswick Health Centre will replace an existing facility to provide a modern local community healthcare environment for residents with a broader range of GP services, including community and mental health services. It was designed by Allies & Morrison and continues Willmott Dixon’s role in the London borough, which includes the Brentford Block D and Frank Towell Court housing developments for Hounslow.
The new facility will include consulting and examination rooms, district nurse facilities and community rooms. Further features include a public community garden, private landscaped central courtyard and fifth floor terrace and gardens to support local ecology and provide outdoor recreation space. It will also deliver 55 affordable homes for key health workers such as nurses and physiotherapists.
Councillor Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Development at Hounslow Council, said:
“I am delighted that residents in Chiswick will benefit from a new state-of-the-art health facility. We want all residents in Hounslow to enjoy good health and this is a concrete example of us working with the NHS to achieve this goal.”
All three practices currently operating from the site – Chiswick Family Doctors, Chiswick Health, and West 4 GPs – have supported the project, which aims to ensure thousands of Chiswick residents can look forward to better health outcomes.
Doctor Venkatesham, of Chiswick Family Doctors, said:
“For several years we have felt that the existing building is badly in need of repair and modernisation. We are very much looking forward to providing more and varied services for the community in Chiswick with better facilities housed in comfortable modern premises fit for the future.”
The new Health Centre is set to open in Autumn 2024 and was procured through Pagabo’s Major Works Framework. It continues a track record for Willmott Dixon in community-based healthcare facilities that includes the Tessa Jowell Health Centre in Dulwich, Whitehouse Medical Centre in Milton Keynes and Grove View Health and Care Hub in Dunstable.
Jonathan Parker, Head of Construction at Pagabo, said:
“We’re proud that our Major Works Framework was able to help appoint the most suited contractor, in a quick and compliant manner, to deliver this state-of-the-art project. We have no doubt that Willmott Dixon will deliver a really high-quality service which will have a significant positive impact to the local area.”
