At Willmott Dixon, we are committed to help people into good careers. We work with schools and colleges to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the real-world demands of a career.
We take pride in giving opportunities to T-Level students like Ryan Andrews, from Cirencester College, who joined the team on our Queens Drive project in Swindon.
Here, Ryan grasped the practical aspects of constructing a building, and the various roles available in construction, including quantity surveying and build management.
“My work experience at Willmott Dixon has been a valuable insight, where I have grown both professionally and personally,” said Ryan.
“The exposure to construction management processes, practical on-site experience, and the use of digital technologies have equipped me with valuable skills that will benefit my future inside and out of construction industry.”
Ryan also shadowed the management team in the office to gain knowledge about onsite processes, working through the tasks assigned for the course with support from Willmott Dixon’s site team and supply chain partners.
Industry engagement is crucial to effective delivery of T-Levels, which encourage an 80-20 balance of practical experience to classroom learning. Since 2022, Willmott Dixon has offered 25 T-level placements to help students learn more about careers in the construction industry.
This supports our ambition in the Now or Never strategy to help improve people's life chances by enabling them to access good quality work with the target to enable 1,000 sustainable careers by 2023.
