New accommodation for Bridgwater and Taunton students
Our team in Wales and The West are creating a new student accommodation block consisting of 65 ensuite bedrooms and associated communal areas with an internal floor area of approx. 1,650M₂ including external works and car parking.
The new student accommodation block for Bridgwater and Taunton College is located adjacent to the new National College for Nuclear Southern Hub (NCfN) on the Cannington Campus. The college is one of five National Colleges creating the workforce of tomorrow by delivering high-level technical training to thousands of learners across England.
The accommodation will provide sixty-seven much needed additional residential accommodation bedrooms for the College and especially to support the NCfN. The site will be linked to the main campus by a new access road and pedestrian pavements.
The new accommodation will be of a traditional style, three storey building with a brick and render external face, a tiled roof and with all rooms being ensuite. The layout has been rationalised internally to maximise the usable space and to create an effective six separate zones containing between eight to thirteen bedrooms in each zone.
The external appearance of the building has been designed to fit into the semi-rural environment with the brick and tile choice but to also add a modern twist with the render and coloured window panels that will also create a link to the adjacent NCfN.
Neal Stephens, managing director, Wales and The West said:
“Accommodation is an important factor when choosing to study away from home. We are pleased to be part of the construction of this new student accommodation block supporting the next generation of students at Bridgewater and Taunton College.”
The student accommodation is due complete in Autumn 2019.
