Mount Pleasant Hostel

Refurbishment of Edwardian hostel for vulnerable people on a busy central London site

This 50-bed hostel in the Hatton Garden conservation area is for vulnerable people with en-suite accommodation, communal areas and tree-lined courtyard.

Works comprised partial demolition of the existing three-storey (lower ground, ground and first floor) Edwardian hostel, refurbishment of the retained building, and a new-build four-storey extension.

The accommodation is set around a courtyard garden created by the removal of a central link block which formed the centre of the original ‘H’ plan hostel. The new build extension fronts the street.

The construction work was delivered on a busy central London location requiring careful logistics planning.
