Based at our Blenheim Park project, assistant build manager, Tom Wakelin, recently approached Age UK Hounslow to see how we could offer support to the charity.
Age UK Hounslow is a local charity working in the community to support older people, their families and carers. They were recently relocated to a new centre which required a lot of work to make it as comfortable as their previous facility.
Following a few meetings with the charity, it was clear that the members missed being able to enjoy their own gardens.
Scope of work:
We wanted to create an outside space for members, so they could nurture their own plants and socialise.
SUMO, one of our Supply Chain Partners who provide above and below the ground surveying, as a gesture of goodwill kindly scanned the ground, prior to any works starting.
We worked with another of our Supply Chain partners, JP Dunn who provided additional resource and installed paving to an area with raised planters (provided by Littlewoods and NHE) which now allows members to better enjoy the space.
Our people also provided plants and shrubs from our Blenheim Park project which Age UK has already begun planting.
Hansa Darbar, business development officer for Age UK Hounslow shared her praise for Tom and the team in a letter. She wrote:
"Tom you have been wonderful and seen this project from start to end. It's great to see passion in someone as young as you. You and your colleagues worked well as a team and you have amazing coordination skills.
We’d also like to say a special thank you to Patrick, from JP Dunn. Without your dedication and support this project wouldn’t have gone as smoothly as it did!
The garden has been transformed into a lovely sun garden with a patio and barbeque area which our elderly members will enjoy. You have done an amazing job in providing a social space which will be enjoyed for years to come.
A big Thank you to Willmott Dixon and all that helped make this project successful."
A true one team effort by everyone involved. Well done!
