Assistant Logistics Manager

Willmott Dixon is seeking an experienced Assistant Logistics Manager to join our team on the high-profile Greenheys development project in Manchester. This is a fixed-term contract for 2 years, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a transformative £60m development.


Key Responsibilities:


As the Assistant Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the logistics team and ensuring the smooth operation of site activities. You will manage agency staff, including gate personnel and labourers, coordinate deliveries, and maintain records for BREEAM purposes. Your role will involve producing and updating method statements and risk assessments, managing waste and skip operations, and supporting the site management team in daily tasks.


You will open the site and welfare facilities daily, attend daily activity briefings, and lead toolbox talks for the logistics team. Your responsibilities also include managing walkways and access routes, reviewing and installing signage, and conducting weekly site checks, including fire points and meter readings. Additionally, you will assist with site records for SMART Waste reporting and ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Duties Include


  • Team Leadership: Lead the logistics team, ensuring daily SMART starts and effective performance.

  • Site Management: Open the site daily (6:45 – 7:00 am) and oversee logistics team operations, including site lock-up.

  • Delivery Coordination: Manage the delivery booking system and maintain accurate records.

  • Waste Management: Oversee skip and waste management, issuing clean-up notices as needed.

  • Documentation: Produce and update method statements and risk assessments to align with evolving site requirements.

  • Signage & Access: Review and manage site signage and access routes.

  • Compliance & Safety: Conduct weekly checks (fire points, hoarding, meter readings) and ensure Field View compliance.

  • IT Proficiency: Use email, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word efficiently.

  • SMSTS or SSSTS (Essential)

  • First Aid (Desirable)

  • Fire Marshal (Desirable)

  • Banksman (Desirable)

  • Availability to work 1 Saturday/weekend per month.
