Business Development Manager

We are looking for an established Business Development Manager to join our high performing Construction North Business – based at our offices in Morley, Leeds.


This is an exciting time of growth as we continue to expand the front end of our business, and we are looking for a candidate who has strong contacts across the construction sector throughout Yorkshire and the North East.


You will be passionate about driving business growth and have the expertise and network to make a significant impact. With a proven track record developing customer relationships and sector presence you will join a team focused on key account management and prepositioning opportunities via a breadth of direct award and mini competition frameworks.


As a self-starter and highly motivated member of the team you will need to be able to develop an in-depth understanding of our service offering and generate your own leads across our public and private sector portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

• Understanding the WD service offering
• Manage and maintain a robust pipeline to maintain a 3-5 year flow of work through our preconstruction and operations teams
• Align our products and services to provide solutions to new and existing customers to help them unlock their programmes and projects
• Engage at all levels across the business including our local Board to develop long lasting customer relationships that generate repeat business
• Identify and manage key customer accounts acting as ‘Key Account Manager’ where appropriate
• Maintain and update our CRM to inform our marketing activities
• Represent the business in the geographical area/sector focus to develop networks and raise our profile
• Promote our ‘Direct Award’ frameworks alongside our other offering

Essential and Desirable Criteria

Essential Criteria:

• Proven experience working as a Business Development Manager within the construction sector
• High level of verbal communication skills and networking
• Ability to develop long term customer relationships to create growth opportunities
• Ability to identify and qualify new business opportunities in line with the businesses strategic plan
• Presentation skills to all levels of seniority from individuals to groups
• Ability to create, manage and analyse Sales & Marketing data and reporting
• Strong influencing skills
• High levels of personal energy with the ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team.
