We understand that our planet has finite resources and that our actions have a significant impact on our climate. We are committed to reduce the amount of carbon we release into our atmosphere, eliminate avoidable waste, halve water consumption and deliver environmental net gain on all projects. The consequences of climate change are extreme, and we must act now to do our bit to save habitats and stop the extinction of many species of plants and animals.
We have signed up to some of the world’s toughest targets to keep global warming below 1.5°C to help create a better planet for future generations.
Here are our Better Planet ambitions to achieve by 2030.
2025 highlights
Our key achievements and milestones reached last year.
- Reduced absolute operational carbon emissions by 63% since our baseline year of 2018.
- Reduced our carbon emissions (relative to turnover) by 85% since 2010.
- We have reduced absolute construction waste by 51% compared with our 2018 baseline - exceeding our original 30% reduction target.
- Our construction waste intensity (relative to turnover) also reduced by 41% in 2025.
- Diesel emissions now represent less than one percent of our total carbon footprint as we shift to HVO and mains electricity – 84% of electricity we used to power our offices and sites in 2025 came from renewable sources.
- Planted 13,374 trees in 2025 (with more than 55,000 planted since 2020).
- Reduced mileage from business travel and commute by 39% since 2018.
- Achieved an A rating for climate from the Climate Disclosure Project (CDP) for the second successive year.
