A young girl has been inspired to be a bricklayer for our company after building castles in her Key Stage 2 class with the help of our people! Molly, from Chorley New Road Primary School where we are creating a new £5.8m school building, was so taken with the session teaching pupils about different building materials that she has already staked a claim for her future career.
She wrote a letter to thank staff on behalf of her class for “one of the most exciting mornings ever”, explaining that she’d be well suited for the job as “she doesn’t mind getting messy”, although she wouldn’t like the cold “because she’s allergic to it.”
She added:
“We really loved seeing the pictures on your presentation of our new school being built, it was so inspiring. I felt quite excited when I saw the first floor where my new classroom is going to be.”
Molly also asked if she could “come and see some bricks being put on for real”, so Willmott Dixon granted her wish. Along with the rest of her class, Molly visited the site to see how it operates and then had a go at bricklaying. All the pupils wrote their names on bricks which will become part of their new school.
We really hope that Molly does consider a career in construction as we think she would be great at it!
