State of the art village in Ascot for people in retirement
We're building a village for people in retirement that is owned and operated by automotive industry charity BEN.
Lynwood Village, set within 20 acres of woodland on the outskirts of Ascot, is run on a not for profit basis and further extends our role as a UK leader for building care and retirement accommodation.
We're now on Phase 3 of the village in Ascot which provides a total of 128 apartments, nine cottages and a 93-bed care home within 20 acres of mature woodland and landscaped gardens. It's very similar to recent village for Anchor Trust in Hampshire.
To create a real village environment, the village is ‘a community within a community’ with restaurants, a hair salon, indoor bowls lawn and even a swimming pool and spa.
Importantly, the village care home allows residents with a wide range of needs to be catered for. Supporting residents suffering with dementia, it encompasses vast outdoor roof top gardens and is home to the home's live-in health care staff.
Latest government data tells us that by 2030, we will see a 50% rise in the number of over-65s and a doubling in over-85s. Developing new communities such as this scheme in Sunninghill creates environments in which people can enjoy their retirement years to the full, while also having support when needed.
The onsite 24/7 care team combined with its design, accessibility and support systems makes Lynwood Village an attractive retirement destination. Residents can buy here and have the peace of mind of having access to a respite centre for short term convalescence and a care centre if needed at any time in the future.
Organised activities, such as a cinema club and evening events, add to the vibrant, buzzy atmosphere. There is a fulltime restaurant, brasserie and bar onsite with a 40% residents’ discount plus a private dining facility. The outside community can use some facilities too and there are guest rooms available for overnight visitors.
To highlight the quality of what we have built, the village was declared the WhatHouse? Best Retirement Development for 2015. Judges said:
"This is an incredibly well-designed community with a great team on hand to help its ageing population thoroughly enjoy retirement. BEN has fully considered the person and the activities that promote wellbeing, making it a deserved winner."
