In 2019 we continued to push for policy changes which support a more sustainable built environment through our membership of industry and cross-sector groups, including: The Aldersgate Group, Supply Chain Sustainability School, the UK Green Building Council, IEMA, Build UK, National Social Value Taskforce, Social Value UK, BSRIA and Social Enterprise UK.
We supported industry-wide improvements through the Better Building Partnership where we are pioneering an energy performance framework for office developments.
Our people sit on UKGBC industry groups including Net Zero Carbon buildings and are advising BEIS/Carbon Trust on energy innovation.
In June 2019 we were named an Employer Champion by the Society for the Environment for our development of Chartered Environmentalists within the business.
In May 2019 we were a signatory to a letter to the Prime Minister organised by the Aldersgate Group, supporting the legislation of the UK 2050 Net Zero target and were delighted when the legislation was passed. We also supported Aldersgate Group’s call for mandatory requirements for businesses and investors to report their exposure to climate risks in line with the TCFD recommendations.
Our people continued to influence and share best practice across the industry. They sat on judging panels and spoke at a range of conferences and awards including Construction News’ Inspire Me, Building Magazine’s Building Live event, Passivhaus Trust, Digital Construction Week and Estates Gazette Future Female Leaders.
Our work has featured in a range of publications showcasing best practice, including Construction News, edie, BusinessGreen and LBG.
Willmott Dixon people sit on the Boards of BSRIA, the Supply Chain Sustainability School, UKGBC and Aldersgate Group. In 2019, we became Organisational Members of the Institute for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (ICRS).
