Judges said regarding Learning and Development:

This year the award went to a company that has training and development embedded within their culture with each member of staff receiving 5 days of training per year opposed to the industry average of 2. In 2013 they set up a life academy to provide 4,000 places each year to learn a variety of career enhancing skills.

They promote fairness and equality through employment practice and are a member of a number of forums including Business in the Community, the Age & Employment Network, Business Disability Forum and Mindful Employer.

They have created numerous apprenticeship training weeks and employed a large number of management trainees. And on a recent project they created 22 new roles and safeguarded 260.
