* Construction waste only
Between 2017 and 2018 we reduced construction waste per £100k of project turnover by 3% – and since 2012, the baseline for our 60% reduction target – by 57%. This means that we remain on track to achieve our 2020 target.
In 2018, we updated our Waste Prediction Tool which uses data from previous projects to accurately forecast waste types and volumes before start on site, enabling us to proactively design out or target specific waste streams.
Robustly evidencing diversion from landfill remains a challenge for us – particularly when it comes to demolition and excavation waste. We continue to work with our demolition contractors and ground workers to identify procedural improvements and ensure that they understand and can evidence that they have discharged their responsibilities under the Duty of Care legislation.
